Piotr Wojcik photographer, Poland - jury 2006, 2009, 2012

Born 1967 in Warsaw. Professional photographer. 1992-2012 photographer and picture editor of the avantgarde Warsaw newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, editor of Pictures of Gazeta Wyborcza Annual Reviews and curator of their exhibitions. Recipient of a number of Polish journalistic photography awards. Since 1992 he’s been documenting European Roma, especially their migration around Europe. He’s the author of a photographic book “The Roma from both Sides of the Carpathian Mountains“ and an exhibition about the Roma called „Warsaw-Bucharest“, which was shown in eight Polish railway stations in 1996. He’s the founder of the quarterly „Dialog-Pheniben“ and the „Opwiedz To – Picture This“ trust. Lecturer in photojournalism at the Polish National Film and Theatre School in Lodz.

DARIA BONERA photographic agent, producer, picture editor National Geographic Traveler, Italy - jury 2012

Born in Milan in 1978. Studied Art Marketing at St. Martins School of Art in London, started working in photography in Contrasto Photo Agency in Milan. In 2004 she joined the Grazia Neri Photo Agency, where she represented several international agencies and was responsible for the recruitment of new photographers. In 2008 she worked as a photographic agent for documentary photographer Donna Ferrato in New York, where she also represented photographers from Grazia Neri and worked with magazines such as The New York Times, Newsweek, Time and other big publications. Since 2009 she has been picture editor at National Geographic Traveler in Milan. She also produces and consults on advertising campaigns, and represents a selection of documentary and fashion photographers for advertising campaigns.

CELINA DUNLOP picture editor, online video producer, The Economist, Great Britain - jury 2011, 2012

Born in the United Kingdom. Appointed picture editor of The Economist in 1990 with responsibility for photo content in all media. She was a jury member for This Working Life 2007 and has been on several panels discussing a variety of photo industry issues. She guest lectures on photographic copyright, and tutored the LSP course in picture research for many years. In 2008 her documentary on the My Lai massacre won FPA radio story of the year and BBC best radio journalism. Her online videos showcase world-class photojournalism on a wide range of topics including life behind the Berlin Wall and Afghanistan’s child brides.

TOMASZ GUDZOWATY photographer, Poland - jury 2011, 2012

Born in Poland. Graduated in Law from Warsaw University but his biggest interest is photography, especially humanistic and classical black and white. He was a social documentary photographer for many years but later became interested in documenting non-commercial sports which are not in the media’s interest – they are too atypical, exotic and outside the main sphere of popularity. He has been published in Max Magazine, L’Equipe, The Guardian, Newsweek, Time, Forbes, British Journal of Photography and others. He has published several photographic books and is a winner of a number of international contests – World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year, NPPA Best Journalism. He works with Focus photo agency in Hamburg and Yours Gallery in Warsaw.

PETR JOSEK photographer Reuters, Czech Republic - jury 2011, 2012

Born in Brno, Czech Republic. He arrived at the photographic profession through various jobs – camera, film and television production assistant, lab technician and photo reporter for the Czech Press Agency CTK. Reuters photographer since 1990 when he documented the dramatic events in Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, the Baltic states, Albania, two coups in Russia and life in Iraq immediately before the fall of Saddam’s dictatorship. Recipient of several journalistic awards. The author of the best-known Photograph of the Year from the Czech Press Photo competition in 1997. He is a respected unofficial teacher of many young photographers. Member of the international jury Czech Press Photo 2011.

Born in Trencin. Graduated in journalism from Komensky University in Bratislava. Started his professional career as camera assistant at Czechoslovak Television in Bratislava. Started working as a journalist in 1972 – was editor-in-chief at Czech Press Agency, editor-in-chief of Praca newspaper and later of WATT-Foto-Video magazine. Worked with Japanese Press Agency Kyodo News. Since 2007 Director of Media Institute at the Faculty of Media Studies in Bratislava (now Paneuropean University). Author and co-author of over twenty books on photography, curator of 200 exhibition at home and abroad, Egon Erwin Kisch Award laureate, recipient of many awards, member of a number of international juries.

Born in Zilina, Slovakia. Graduated from the School of Graphic Arts in Prague and the Folkwang Schule in Essen, specialising in photography and design. Emigrated to Germany in 1968. Worked for Stern, GEO and Der Spiegel as a photographer and was a correspondent of GEO Magazine in Moscow. Founding member of the Bilderberg picture agency in Hamburg. Has lived in Prague since 1989. Chairman of Czech Press Photo international juries. 1996-2011.

AMIR EL LITHY director Gezira Art Center Galleries, Egypt - jury 2012

Born in 1976 in Saudi Arabia. Studied fine art and sculpture at Cairo University School of Art and received a doctorate in art criticism from the Academy of Art in Cairo in 2000. Has participated in many group exhibitions of contemporary art in Egypt, France and South America. Exhibits in Egypt. Recipient of a number of national and international awards including Egyptian Ministry of Culture Award for fine art. His work is included in museums and private collections in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, South America, Great Britain and Switzerland. Since 2007 Director of Gezira Art Center Galleries where he organises local and international exhibitions of contemporary art, including photography.

GORAN TOMAŠEVIČ photographer, Serbia - jury 2012

Born in Belgrade in 1969. Started working for Reuters as a photographer in 1996 during the mass demonstrations against president Slobodan Milosevic. Reporter in Baghdad during the Iraq conflict, in Jerusalem during the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and later in Egypt. His last assignment was in Libya during the revolution. He became Reuters Photographer of the Year in 2003 and 2005. To celebrate his membership at Czech Press Photo 2012 jury, an exhibition of his war photographs will open at the Czech Photo Gallery in Prague.

TAMAS SZIGETI photographer, president Association of Hungarian Press Photographers, Hungary - jury 2012

Born in Budapest. Between 1978-1992 worked as a photographer for several Hungarian magazines and a political daily newspaper Magyar Hirlap, where, in 1993, he became head of the photographic department. In 2002 picture editor Best Magazine, 2003 picture editor of political weekly 168 Óra, in 2005 picture editor of prestigious economic weekly Figyelo. Since 2011 official photographer of the Hungarian government. Since 2005 he has alternated between being the president or secretary of the Association of Hungarian Press Photographers. He’s been a jury member of Hungarian Press Photo contest many times.

ANNA ZEKRIJA director Saltimages agency, Russia - jury 2012

Born in Moscow. Since 2005 editor of Photographer.ru, agency representing major international agencies including Contact Press Images, Magnum Photos, Contrasto and Panos Pictures. Between 2008-2011, executive director Photographer.ru with a mission to develop Russian photographers’ personal projects focusing on life in Russia and to develop distribution to national and international media. Since 2010 director of Objective Reality trust which supports multimedia journalists and artists through educational programmes and cultural activities. She is a curator of many photographic exhibitions and multimedia programmes, including a travelling exhibition "Russian Northern Caucasus at the time of changes", a multimedia installation of contemporary Russian photography in Paris. Reviewer for Ojo de Pez in Barcelona. member of jury Belarus Press Photo (2011) and World Press Photo Multimedia Contest (2012). In 2011, together with picture editor Maria Zacharova, she founded Saltimages agency, whose main aim is to promote Russian documentary photography.
